POLEMIC
THE HOME OF REASON
FAQ
What is the purpose of this website?
We have a post for this. In laymen's terms, however, we believe that it is possible to reduce much of the hostility we see in discourse today. We believe this is possible through the prioritization of information and logic, as this is what we defend our beliefs by. We believe that the creation of this platform, Polemic, will help this goal.
What's with all this vocabulary?
Polemic is not necessarily supposed to be an “academic” platform—that's just how we like to write. Users are free to write in whatever way they'd like, as long as it follows our Content Policy.
What purpose do the Featured and Hall of Fame sections serve?
As you can imagine, the Featured section is where we display exceptional works on our platform. The Hall of Fame is reserved for works that transcend anything you might expect to find on a public online forum. All posts are automatically considered for these sections. If your post is selected and you would prefer that it not be there, please reach out to support.
How do I get verified?
We currently do not have a rigorous system to determine who is eligible for verification. Until we do, however, we will vaguely say that any person who is well-known to the public, academia, or debate-space will likely qualify. If you believe that you belong to one of these groups and would like to be verified, please reach out to support.
What is Polemic Pro?
This is a subscription service. You can cancel it anytime. The benefits are listed on the Pro page.
What's with the ads?
Ideally, Polemic would have no advertisements—they're a bit of an eyesore. Websites, however, require services to host them, and with all of the data types that Polemic stores, it would be injudicious to allow the website to run and not account for a possible surge in usage. With ads, we can effectively guarantee that the platform stays afloat. If we are one day able to run Polemic without any ads, we will likely implement that.
